ICJ in Letter to US Calls for Lifting Unilateral Sanctions Imposed on Iran, en.farsnews.com

The International Court of Justice in a letter to the United States has called for the removal of the unilateral sanctions re-imposed by Washington against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tehran’s legal representative to the ICJ Mohsen Mohebi said.

”May 15 is Washington’s deadline to provide ICJ with the information and details of its measures in regard to lifting the unilateral sanctions on Tehran,” Mohebi said.

Based on the ICJ provisional ruling, the US, in accordance with its obligations under the 1955 Treaty of Amity, shall remove any impediments arising from the measures announced on May 8, 2018 to free export of medicine, foodstuffs, spare parts, equipment and associated services necessary for the safety of civil aviation to Iran. […] NATO should be reformed but to do so would require major changes to the 1949 Treaty which, if attempted, could destroy the alliance. Were they even suggested, in terms requiring better adherence to common goals and defense spending by members, the politics of nations such as the U.K., France and Germany would turn quickly against any reforms. The only thing that can save NATO is the most unlikely: That the current governments of its members are replaced with more responsible actors.

Svensk militär har inget i Afghanistan och Irak att göra

Den 28–29 mars deltog försvarsminister Peter Hultqvist i New York på FN:s möte om fredsfrämjande insatser. Mötet handlade om hur FN:s fredsfrämjande arbete ska drivas vidare och förbättras och vad medlemsstaterna kan bidra med för resurser till insatserna.

Hultqvist talade om nödvändigheten att stärka FN och att delta i FN:s fredsfrämjande operationer: ”Vi lever i en värld med ökande osäkerhet, där institutioner och relationer vi tidigare ansett vara stabila nu är under ökande press. För Sverige är respekten för internationell rätt grundläggande. Tillsammans måste vi stå upp mot överträdelser av FN-stadgan och arbeta för fred och säkerhet.”

Svenska regeringen säger en sak men gör en annan.

Svenska soldater deltar i två krig utan FN-mandat: Afghanistan och Irak.
