Syria’s Assad Closer Than Ever to Full Normalization, Arab Foreign Ministers Indicate, archive.is

In another step towards full normalization, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad comes closer to having his country re-enter the Arab League as Arab foreign ministers who convened on Monday for a summit in Amman reaffirmed the Syrian government’s sovereignty ”over all Syrian territories.”

The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq and Syria issued a joint statement that stressed the importance of cooperation between Syria, the United Nations, and relevant countries to formulate a ”comprehensive strategy to increase security and combat terrorism.”

The statement also announced the adoption of the Syrian regime’s demands to ensure Syrian sovereignty over all territories of the country, support Syrian government institutions, and end the presence of armed groups and terrorist organizations on Syrian soil.
